Colic

Colic is very common in young babies, with around one in five suffering from it before they are a month old. It is characterised by bursts of shrill, powerful crying that don’t seem to have an obvious cause and it can be a distressing experience for the whole family.

Nobody is really sure what causes colic, but it is thought that it could be bubbles of trapped wind in your baby’s bowel, possibly caused by difficulty digesting the lactose in their milk. This trapped wind can be very painful and difficult for little ones to release easily.

Your local Unicarepharmacy stocks a variety of products that can ease and prevent the painful symptoms of colic. We may also be able to advise you on alternative feeding bottles which may help even further in diminishing symptoms.

Threadworm

Threadworm is the most common worm infection.  Both children and adults can be infected, although it is most commonly found in children.

Threadworm begins with an itchy feeling around your anus (back passage), usually at night under warm sheets.  It is easily treated with either a liquid or a tablet available from your pharmacy.

Your local Unicarepharmacy health team can provide you with advice on necessary treatments and also about how to control the infection within the family.
