The number of people in Ireland who have diabetes is growing rapidly. It is estimated that over 200,000 people in the country currently have this condition, and of them, 50,000 are undiagnosed.
Unicarepharmacy was the first pharmacy in Ireland to offer Diabetes Screening to our customers. The symptoms of Diabtes are not always obvious and develop slowly over time so it is important that each of us, no matter how healthy, checks our glucose levels regulalrly.
Selected Unicarepharmacy branches offer this service for just €10. You will receive a ‘finger-prick’ blood test to measure the level of glucose in your blood. The test takes just 15 minutes and you will receive instant results. This service takes place in the privacy of our Care Room. Customers who avail of our Diabetes Screening will also recevice a free Blood Pressure check.
You will receive advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle as well as how you can prevent the development of Type 2 Diabetes. If your results are outside safe limits, our pharmacist will prepare a referral letter to your GP for further investigation and advise you on how to persue.
