Body Mass Index
Your Body Mass Index or BMI is a measure indicating whether your weight is healthy for your height.
Selected stores offer to take this measurement for you, free of charge. They can advise of you of how you can achieve and maintain a healthy BMI.
Keeping your weight in check will help prevent you from developing conditions like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and many more.

Blood Pressure Measurement
About half of Irish Adults over the age of 50 have high blood pressure. With such high figures, and the fact that the condition often presents no symptoms, we would all do well to have our Blood Pressure measured regularly so we can prevent problems occurring in later life.
In selected branches, you can have your Blood Pressure checked in as little a ten minutes at a cost of just €5. The process is confidential and takes place in the privacy of our care room. Our trained service providers will simply ask you some background questions and then measure your blood pressure for you with instant results!
All customers who request a Blood Pressure check will also reveice a BMI check. You will also receive information and advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and how to prevent high blood pressure. If your results are outside safe limits, our pharmacist will provide you with a referral letter for your GP and advise you on when you should contact them.

Diabetes Screening
The number of people in Ireland who have diabetes is growing rapidly. It is estimated that over 200,000 people in the country currently have this condition, and of them, 50,000 are undiagnosed.
Unicarepharmacy was the first pharmacy in Ireland to offer Diabetes Screening to our customers. The symptoms of Diabtes are not always onvious and develop slowly over time so it is important that each of us, no matter how healthy, checks our glucose levels regulalrly.
Selected Unicarepharmacy branches offer this service for just €10. You will receive a ‘finger-prick’ blood test to measure the level of glucose in your blood. The test takes just 10 minutes and you will receive instant results. This service takes place in the privacy of our Care Room. Customers who avail of our Diabetes Screening will also recevice a free Blood Pressure check.
You can receive advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle as well as how you can prevent the development of Type 2 Diabetes. If your results are outside safe limits, our pharmacist will prepare a referral letter to your GP for further investigation and advise you on how to persue.

Cholesterol Testing
High Cholesterol can affect anyone, regardless of age or size, in contrast with common misconceptions. So it’s important that we get our cholesterol levels checked regularly, especially where there is a family history of high cholesterol.
Having high cholesterol greatly increases your chances of developing heart disease so steps should be taken to keep your levels within healthy ranges.
Selected Unicarepharmacy branches offer Cholesterol Testing where our customers can receive a full breakdown of the cholesterol levels in their systems. The process involves a ‘finger prick’ blood test, takes just 20 minutes and costs just €35.
Our service providers in-store will talk you through your results explaining what they mean for you and offer advice on how to keep your Cholesterol Levels within a safe range.
Customers who avail of this service can also receive a Blood Pressure Check and Diabetes Check free of charge.
